About:
Sheffield has been longlisted to become UK City of Culture 2029. As part of the city's bid development process, we're inviting people from across Sheffield's creative and cultural communities to help shape ideas, ambitions and opportunities that could form part of our vision for 2029.
This assembly is inspired by the ambition of the Sheffield Culture Strategy and City Goals to invest in children, young people and future generations, ensuring everyone has opportunities to learn, contribute, lead and flourish in the years ahead.
Through a series of Creative Assemblies, we'll bring together artists, freelancers, community organisations, cultural institutions, educators, businesses and public sector partners to explore how culture can help shape Sheffield's future.
Creative Assemblies are spaces for shared thinking, listening, learning and action, bringing together people from different sectors, communities and disciplines to imagine what Sheffield could become.
They are directly linked to areas of focus for our bid, which will need to set out clear methodologies and approaches for delivering ‘culture-led social transformation’ as well as include a small number of projects and programmes that are indicative of what these approaches might look like.
This Creative Assembly will focus on the City of Future Generations. Children and young people will play a vital role in Sheffield's future, and we want their creativity, aspirations and experiences to be at the heart of our thinking.
Together, we'll explore how culture can support learning, creativity, skills, confidence and opportunity, while helping to create pathways for future generations of artists, makers, leaders and changemakers. Join us to help imagine what Sheffield could become for the next generation.
