About this Event

Overview

A gentle journalling session exploring what happens when we slow the act of writing itself.

In a world that often moves quickly, we’ll explore what it feels like to write more slowly, and pay attention.

We’ll use simple prompts, short poetic extracts, and practical slowing-down techniques to support a different rhythm of writing.

If the event is sold out, please drop Rachel a message so she can let you know if a space opens up: [email protected]
If the ticket price is a barrier for you, please feel free to get in touch — a small number of reduced-rate places are available.
Peer-Led Journalling Workshops
Peer-led journalling is a monthly group , taking place online and in person. These sessions offer gentle structure, creative prompts, and shared reflection to help you develop a journalling practice that suits you. No experience needed, just curiosity and the willingness to explore.

These workshops are open to complete beginners, occasional journallers, and those with a well-established practice. They’re for anyone who wants to begin, explore, expand, or deepen their journalling journey alongside others. There will be a space to share your words and reflections within the group, but sharing is always optional.

Each session stands alone, so you can attend occasionally, or regularly.

“Peer-led” simply means that Rachel will guide and hold the space, but without having all the answers, as she explore her own journalling practice.

This is what people have said about previous peer-led journalling sessions:

'Rachel facilitates her sessions in a beautiful and sensitive way. She has clearly put a lot of very careful preparation into each session so that our time together is really rich. Rachel is an expert in holding a place of peer led learning which is creative and life giving.'

'I hadn't really come to this workshop setting fully conscious of how much journaling was a therapeutic tool. Over the last few weeks I've actually been appreciating the therapeutic value of journaling more than I originally envisaged.'

'Usually when I try to journal, I spend a lot of time staring at a blank page. With your prompts I haven't stopped writing all evening!'

About the Facilitator - Rachel Mills
Rachel has been journalling since the age of nine, using writing to navigate life’s hardest moments and to capture its most meaningful ones. She is passionate about helping people find ways to give voice and language to what may otherwise remain hidden.

Rachel leads a writing group for women who are survivors of abuse through the charity Restored, as well as a children's writing group at the Writers Workshop.

Alongside her creative work, Rachel works for a local charity developing community health and wellbeing projects. Wholeness, creativity, connection and community are at the heart of everything she does.
