Sharpening is an essential skill for maintaining your tools, helping them perform at their best and last a lifetime. In this seminar-style workshop, you’ll learn the basics of sharpening, from kitchen knives to woodworking tools and garden implements, using affordable, readily available equipment. With time to practise at the end, you’ll leave confident in your ability to sharpen tools in your home and workshop.
Hosted by our friends Micro Mill.
Your tutor Sol Rogers Mullins is a craftsperson and ecologist from Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula. He has been working with wood for over ten years, and has led carving workshops in the UK, Germany and Aotearoa. He is passionate about spreading the joy of making humble, practical objects such as spoons and bowls, and believes that looking back at practices developed by people living within their environmental means can help us to live more sustainably today.
