Sewing Drop In
About this Event
This is a great opportunity to learn a little about sewing, or get tips on finishing a project or starting a new one. Spend time with alumni of the Sewing with Jaskamal classes, meet other creative people, and build our community.
There will be six stations set up for you to sew. Each station will have a cutting mat, magnetic pin cushion, extension cord, clip on light, and ruler for you to borrow. We will have three rotary cuters to share among us.
You will need to bring your own sewing machines and projects.
Jaskamal will be around if you have sewing questions, and they have custom tailors sewing kits for sale for $25 dollars.
Accessibility details:
This is a neurodiverse centric space. If you are neurodiverse you are welcome here.
There is one wheelchair accessible toilet. There are two bathrooms, both are spacious. Bathrooms are all genders.
There is no body shaming. All bodies and gender expressions are included and welcome here.
The entire place is one level and is solid concrete flooring. The lighting is overhead string bulbs, and I provide clip on lapel bike lights to borrow so you can see your work better if you would like.
There is no music played during the drop-in, and the only noises are those we make with the sewing machines and the chatting we do. We welcome vocal stims in this space.
Please refrain from wearing perfumes and colognes. Natural oils, antiperspirants are okay.
You are encouraged to bring stim toys, comfort items, snacks, and other things you may need to be comfortable. Trying to be more accessible is part of what we're doing here.
