Serpentine is a 5-piece vocal ensemble traveling from afar, bringing songs of land and the soveriegn body to Fennelly's courtyard.
Serpentine is a Cork and New Orleans based, femme + queer vocal ensemble directed by MaeDea Farrell Moon. The choir sings seasonal thresholds, opening relational spaces between human and more-than-human worlds. Their voices carry lament, devotion, frenzy, and joy, tending to memory and belonging through the embodied voice.
For their third tour in Ireland, Serpentine presents Singing the Body Sovereign. A performance that centers the animistic body as a site of sovereignty. This work moves through the entanglement; songs emerge from the wild syntax of riverbeds, from the vocalizations of medicinal herbs, from the root systems of ancient trees cohabiting the dark soil.
