About this Event

Kilkenny's newest electronic music festival soft launches this year at the AKA Fringe with a first time electronic art music performance in the handball alleys on Michael Street.

The concert will feature performances by [SPIT] and blackMarbleSound(); alongside live visuals projected on the concrete walls of the alleys.

[SPIT] is a live electronic performance project by artists and educators Viva Dean and Róisín Berg. Together, they explore sound, movement, and emerging interfaces through modular synthesis, sampling, and improvisation. They perform on handmade electronic instruments — custom controllers built to fold the whole self into the machine. Their work combines dark rolling bass, sparse delayed percussion, and sudden bursts of noise with a visual language of exposed circuitry, oscilloscopes, and experimental, flesh-proximate materials.

The collaboration is an ongoing investigation into gendered perceptions of artistic legitimacy in electronic music, the role of eroticism and domination // non-domination in human–machine interactions. Create the technology or it will create you.

They have presented work at Sonic Explorations (Culture Night, Dublin, 2025), the EVA International Closing Ceremony (Limerick, 2025), and Digital Worlds with the Digital Media and Arts Research Centre (Limerick, 2026).

blackMarbleSound(); is a Kilkenny based digital arts collective focused on live electronic productions, audio/visual exploration, vinyl and immersive event curation. Co-founded by Paul Lanigan and Ciarán

Mac Eochaidh, the collective hosts events in arts spaces in the south-east of Ireland, with a current focus on the repurposing of spaces and decentralisation of events to alternative, often rural settings.

Inspired by the works and predictions of early internet artist Josh Harris, regarding the rise of the internet and social media leading to the decline and eventual breakdown of society, events incorporate surveillance through live interactive visuals, utilising depth camera technology to capture, display and archive anonymised abstractions of the dancefloor.
