Why is Baby Loss Awareness Week important to Serenity?
As a team, this week is close to all of our hearts. We have all either personally been through or have family and friends close to us who have been affected by the tragedy of baby loss.
All proceeds from our Pamper Night will go to the Evelyn Rae Foundation, a local foundation that raises funds and awareness for Baby Loss. The Foundation was established by Lauren and Connor, the parents of Evie LeMasurier who tragically passed away a day after she was born.
The money raised by the Foundation goes to charities that aid research into preventing neonatal deaths, stillbirths and miscarriages.
They also support local families who are suffering from the loss of their babies by providing memory boxes to local hospitals.
Evie’s family have created a garden at Hamsey Green Pond in Sanderstead, to remember Evie and other lost babies. It features benches, a butterfly statue, and a wall with their names engraved on it. This garden serves as a hopeful reminder to grieving parents that they are not alone and that their children will always be remembered.
Evie’s parents have so far raised more than £10,000 towards establishing The Evelyn Rae Foundation to raise awareness about neonatal deaths, stillbirths and miscarriages in memory of their baby girl.
