This program will pair senior citizens with students for personalized 1:1 technology assistance with smartphones and basic AI applications.

Northeastern University Oakland, The Mills Institute at Northeastern University, Fremont High School and the City of Oakland District 6 are collaborating on a transformative event that bridges the digital divide through intergenerational learning. This program will pair senior citizens with high school students from Fremont High School, alongside Northeastern University students, for personalized 1:1 technology assistance with smartphones and basic AI applications.

  • Help local senior citizens troubleshoot everyday challenges on their phones (examples: taking and sending pictures, downloading new apps, using FaceTime to communicate with family members)
  • Mentor Fremont High School juniors and seniors, as they work alongside you to provide support senior citizen attendees
  • All participants will receive an official Certificate of Participation from the City of Oakland
