This week of learning and activities is FREE and open to the public!
Join us September 21–25 for Senior Health & Wellness Week at The Brainerd Center! Throughout the week, we'll celebrate healthy, active aging with fitness classes, educational presentations, hands-on activities, and opportunities to experience many of the programs that make The Center such a vibrant community gathering place. The Grand Finale will be our annual Ageless Expo on Friday, September 25th.
Each day highlights activities already offered at The Center, including Senior Tennis, Bone Builders, Toymakers, Quilt Makers, and more, plus the chance to hear amazing speakers on relevant topics. Here's an example of the free presentations and learning opportunities attendees can enjoy:
MONDAY
10:00-10:45 AM-Rena Bolt and Kelli Johnson will be in the Great Room sharing all of the resources that Crow Wing Energized offers the senior community.
If you’d like a friendly face that has four legs and a tail,
10:30-12:00 PM, Therapy Dogs handler Kara and her therapy dog, Oliver, will be here to add comfort and fun to the day.
TUESDAY
10:30 and 12:00 PM-If you've ever been curious about the Still We Sing Memory Choir, stop by the Great Room and experience it for yourself. You're welcome to sit back and listen or join in the singing as a member of our community. Everyone is welcome!
1:00-2:30 PM-Collette from Essentia Health will be in our Third-Floor Conference Room offering CPR/AED Training.
WEDNESDAY
At 9:30 AM in the Great Room, Natalie from Aging Pathways will present How Minnesota Aging Pathways Can Help with the Money Saver.
THURSDAY
9:00-10:00 AM Cristina Rodriguez (GREAT ROOM) Tips and Tricks for a Healthy Brain and Sharp Memory
10:30-12:00 PM Field trip to Northland Arboretum
10:00-11:00 AM Teresia Mortensen LICSW, from Age Well Therapy: Will have an interactive session with relaxation and breath work habits as well as other mindfulness practices in the Board Room.
FRIDAY
During the Ageless Expo, our Craft Room will be transformed into a place for amazing speakers and presentations.
9:00-9:45 AM: Lauren Hurt from Vivie will kick off the day with a timely presentation about The Myths of Aging.
10:30-11:00 AM: Keeley Atkinson, RN BSN, Regional Manager of Clinical Operations – Hospice- will have excellent information to share about the Myths & Facts of Hospice
11:00-11:30 AM: Karla Krueger from Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid in St. Cloud will be talking about planning ahead and avoiding scams.
11:30-12:00 PM: Enjoy a There's No Place Like Home: Let Us Help You Stay There, presentation from Angie at Home Instead,
This community event is open to the public and designed especially for adults 45+. Whether you're retired, planning for retirement, or simply looking for ways to stay active and informed, the Ageless Expo is your opportunity to connect with local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community resources dedicated to helping you live well at every age.
