Seeding Saving at the Five Acre Farm
About this Event
Seed Saving & Growing Workshop for Veterans and Families
Join us for a hands-on workshop designed for Veterans and their families living in Nanaimo and the Regional District of Nanaimo! In partnership with Nanaimo Foodshare, this workshop will be held at the historic Five Acre Farm, where you'll learn practical, beginner-friendly skills for growing your own food and flowers at home.
You'll learn how to:
- Save seeds from your favourite flowers and vegetables to use year after year
- Start seeds indoors and transplant them successfully
- Grow food and flowers in small spaces — whether you have a full yard, a deck, or just a sunny window
No gardening experience necessary — this workshop is open to all skill levels, and questions are always welcome!
Every participant leaves with a free seed starter kit to take home and get growing right away, wherever you live.
This event is offered as part of Island Crisis Care Society's Veterans Program, supporting Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP Veterans and their families throughout Nanaimo and the surrounding region. Come connect with other Veteran families, enjoy some time outdoors, and build a skill you can keep growing for years to come.
