We'll be in town for a few days and want to spend a little time with the community.

Kick the weekend off with a focused one-hour session before the Westie Lab social. Stay after and be Tingled.

Workshop Block | The DNA of West Coast Swing + The Seattle Melt
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM | The DNA of West Coast Swing
3:30 PM – 4:00 PM | Dance Break
4:00 PM – 5:30 PM | The Seattle Melt
The DNA of West Coast Swing breaks down three core principles that make this dance what it is: the connection, the rhythm, and the direction. We'll put them together with one goal: find the soul of WCS.
The Seattle Melt is built for dancers actively competing or preparing to. Seattle is known for its gooey connection and curious shaping, and also for the Seattle Freeze. It occurred to me when I left that the way Seattle dancers move is exactly how that freeze gets melted, and it's a big part of what makes this one of the warmest and most welcoming communities I've ever been a part of. In this workshop we'll learn how to do it on purpose: how to find that gooey connection and use shaping to deepen it.
8:00 PM | The Dumb Stuff
9:00 PM | Social Dance
The final workshop is about all the fun, stupid things we do when we're done being proper and just want to fool around on the floor. We'll be laughing all night. Then the social starts at 9:00 PM and we go until we drop. DJs for the evening include Za Thomaier, Larisa Tingle, and a Seattle local favorite.
Sunday, July 19
6:00 PM – 7:30 PM | Supervised Practica
Close the weekend with intention. Za and Larisa will supervise an open practica so you can put the work in, get live eyes on your dancing, and walk away with something real.
