About this Event
Many children dream of working with wildlife. Twenty-four-year-old Will Goodwin is making his passion for helping wildlife and nature a reality while completing his degree at Western Sydney University.
As one of the first environmental science cadets with the Healthy Waterways Team at Blue Mountains City Council (BMCC), Will's work includes researching native spiny crayfish, freshwater turtle conservation, and monitoring the health of waterways across the Blue Mountains.
Will's talk will provide insight into the remarkable biodiversity in our local creeks, from a rare plant older than dinosaurs to alien underground crustaceans. Focussing on citizen science, he'll show how anyone can make a difference, from using bugs to measure your local creek's water quality, to saving baby turtles with supplies from Bunnings. Plus he'll share his experiences and tips for getting started as a young person in science.
Free, bookings essential.
Tea, coffee and light refreshments provided.
