In an intimate setting Mejia reads from pieces developed through collaborations with visual artists and collective projects. These exchanges have deepened his interest in how narrative form can absorb and respond to other art forms.
In this reading Mejia animates three narrative sequences that move between Colombian and broader Latin American contexts touching on themes of biography horror and history while traversing imagined and real geographies from Bogotá to Berlin and beyond. His fiction opens portals between memory and myth city and wilderness personal and the surreal.
The evening concludes with a conversation moderated by Dr. Angela Flury German writer translator and emerita Professor of Comparative Literature at DePauw University in which she and Mejia reflect on the experiences influences and imagery that shape his fiction.
