About this Event
What do drag and the working world have in common? More than you’d think!
Even in 2025, women, trans and nonbinary people are still severely underrepresented in leadership roles, whether it’s in founding teams or boards of international corporations. Why? Gender norms are one of several underlying factors. Studies show, for example, that the same behaviour is perceived as direct and assertive in men - and rude or unfriendly in women. Societal expectations dictate, often unconsciously, who is taken seriously, who receives funding and support, who gets to thrive in which career.
What better way to expose and subvert these harmful norms than by learning from those who do it for a living: a drag artist!
In this hands-on workshop, women, trans and nonbinary leaders get the chance to explore gender dynamics at work through the playful lens of drag.
- What would it feel like to show up “as a man” in your next meeting?
- If you had to express your identity in one gesture, what would it be?
- How do you change the way you present with just one lipstick and a bit of glitter?
Led by experienced drag performer Caine Panik, participants will learn about the basics of drag, try out different ways of embodying gender, and find transformative practices to incorporate into their daily working lives.
The workshop also includes a brief theoretical input, Q&A, and time to mix and mingle with likeminded leaders.
Three things you’ll take away from the workshop:
- New perspectives on gender norms – Understand how gendered expectations shape workplace dynamics and discover creative ways to challenge them.
- Embodied confidence tools – Learn practical techniques from drag to expand your range of self-expression, from body language to voice and presence.
- A supportive network – Connect with other women, trans and non-binary leaders who want to self-reflect and your experiences and commitment to changing the workplace.
