Als Erweiterung einer fortlaufenden Arbeit mit verschiedenen Lesergruppen wird Ende dieses Monats der Workshop „Lesekreise. Praktiken kollektiver Lektüre“ stattfinden.

👉Für die Lesungen "Reading Otherwise" und "Tools of Resistance" ist eine Anmeldung erforderlich (bitte wenden Sie sich an Georgia Lummert unter [email protected]). Die Texte werden in den Sitzungen gemeinsam gelesen; eine Vorbereitung ist nicht erforderlich.
👀Worum geht es?
Lesekreise erleben eine Renaissance. Sei es in der Bibliothek, der queeren Buchhandlung oder im Gefängnis, sei es in der Online-Lesegruppe oder im Kontext gewerkschaftlicher Arbeit: Gemeinschaftliche Lektüren bringen andere Effekte hervor als individuelles Lesen. Doch welche Formen nehmen sie konkret an – und welche Erfahrungs- und Möglichkeitsräume bergen sie?
Ausgehend von der Annahme, dass sich in Praktiken kollektiver Lektüre ästhetische, gemeinschaftsstiftende und politische Dimensionen des Lesens in besonderer Weise gegenseitig durchdringen, widmet sich der Workshop dem Format des Lesekreises. Ziel ist es, Schlaglichter auf historische wie zeitgenössische Arten und Weisen des gemeinsamen Lesens in politischen, akademischen, künstlerischen oder gewerkschaftlichen Kontexten zu werfen.
Der Workshop bringt dafür Akademiker:innen unterschiedlicher Disziplinen mit Leiter:innen wie Teilnehmer:innen von Lesekreisen, Bibliothekar:innen, Buchhändler:innen und Verlagsmitarbeiter:innen ins Gespräch, um vor dem Hintergrund ihrer jeweiligen Expertisen, Erfahrungen und Perspektiven über Praktiken und Potenziale kollektiver Lektüre nachzudenken. Das Format des Lesekreises wird dabei einerseits anhand von Vorträgen und Gesprächsrunden, andererseits durch explorative Formate ausgelotet, in denen unterschiedliche Lesemodi vor Ort gemeinsam erprobt und diskutiert werden.
Kooperationsveranstaltung des Exzellenzclusters 2020 Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective mit dem Leibniz-Zentrum für Literatur- und Kulturforschung (ZfL), dem Literaturforum im Brecht-Haus im Rahmen des AK Politische Ästhetiken und diffrakt | zentrum für theoretische peripherie.

As a follow-up to our work with different reading audiences, end of this month ZfL is coorganising the workshop "Lesekreise. Praktiken kollektiver Lektüre" (Reading Groups: Collective Reading Practices).

👉Registration is required to participate in the reading sessions "Reading Otherwise" and "Tools of Resistance" (please contact Georgia Lummert at [email protected]). The texts will be read together in the sessions; no preparation is necessary.
👀What's it about?
Reading groups are experiencing a renaissance. Whether in the library, the queer bookstore, or in prison, in online reading groups or in union collectives: reading groups and book clubs produce different effects than individual reading. But what specific forms do they take—and what spaces of experience and possibility do they contain?
Based on the assumption that aesthetic, community-building and political dimensions of reading interpenetrate in a special way in collective reading practices, the workshop focuses on the currently booming reading group phenomenon. The goal is to shed light on historical and contemporary modes of reading together in political, academic, artistic or trade union contexts.
To this end, the workshop brings together academics from various disciplines with organisers and participants of reading circles, librarians, booksellers and publishers to reflect on the practices and potential of collective reading against the backdrop of their respective expertise, experiences and perspectives. The reading group phenomenon will be explored through lectures and discussions, as well as through exploratory formats in which different reading modes are tested and discussed together on site.
This is a collaborative event of the 2020 Cluster of Excellence "Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective" with the Leibniz Center for Literature and Cultural Research (ZfL), the Literaturforum im Brechthaus within the framework of the Political Aesthetics Working Group, and diffrakt. Center for Theoretical Periphery.
It is organised by Moritz Gansen (CMB/diffrakt), Ivana Perica (ZfL), and Barbara Bausch, project "Reading Reading. On an Aesthetic Practice," Research Area 4: "Literary Currencies."
