SUPPORT DACA MOM IMPACTED BY ICE
Emma is a DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipient. She is immensely grateful for this program as it has allowed her to work, financially assist her family, and obtain a degree. She was brought to this country when she was just a young child. She built a life here: she is a college graduate, happily married to her partner and best friend of 8 years, Cory (a US citizen), and she is the mother to their wonderful son.
Unfortunately, ICE's legal branch, the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (ICE OPLA) has filed motions to recalendar (reopen) administratively closed cases for removal proceedings before the immigration court. There are over 300,000 of these cases nationwide and her case is one of them.
Her family is unable to afford the legal fees associated with retaining an attorney for court representation and seeking alternative relief, which they need right away, especially as DACA appears to not be enough protection at this time. They are seeking any financial assistance, big or small, to help them afford these services and secure their stability as a family. The legal fees are as follows:
1. $5,000 to retain an attorney for legal representation in court
2. $10,000 for alternative relief (start the green card process)
