About this Event
Ruth Nicholson was a pioneering doctor who is commemorated by a heritage plaque in Kenilworth Road. Daughter of the vicar of St Stephen's Church, she was born and brought up in Elswick, and the family's story is also the story of the dramatic development of Elswick in the latter half of the 19th century. Join us on Thursday 14th May at 11am at Cruddas Park Library for a talk about the life and achievements of Ruth Nicholson and the transformation of Elswick which she lived through. Light refreshments are provided. This will be followed by a guided walk around the area highlighting key places in the area's history.
This event is organised by St James' Heritage & Environment Group
