Roast Your Own Hojicha
About this Event
Rove Kyoto is partnering with Teakan Tea Co., a local boutique tea company based in Vancouver, for a hands-on workshop exploring the art and tradition of tea. Learn how to prepare and roast tea while discovering the history behind this everyday ritual.
Hojicha is an everyday tea with a lot of personality that often goes unnoticed. It carries warmth, comfort, and the quiet magic that happens when the leaves meet fire. In this workshop, we will explore how the tea is processed and why roasting changes everything from aroma to mood.
After tasting and comparing different teas, we will get hands-on with a horoku (焙烙), where you will roast tea leaves and transform them into hojicha! Everyone goes home with two servings of the Hojicha they create, so the fun continues at home. Join us for a workshop that’s part learning, part roasting, part delicious experimentation.
