Jennifer Egan is the author of several novels and a short story collection. Her 2017 novel, Manhattan Beach, a New York Times bestseller, was awarded the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction and was chosen as New York City’s One Book One New York read. Her previous novel, A Visit From the Goon Squad, won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award, and was recently named one of the New York Times’s 100 Best Books of the 21st Century. Her new novel, The Candy House, a companion to A Visit From the Goon Squad, was named one of the New York Times’s 10 Best Books of 2022 and one of President Obama’s favorite reads of the year. She has served as President of PEN America and twice as Artist-in-Residence in the English Department at the University of Pennsylvania, where she has taught courses in 19th and 20th Century literature. Her year-long reporting on street homelessness and supportive housing in New York City was published in The New Yorker in September of 2023.

Nate Berkus is one of the world’s most influential interior designers, known for his elevated yet accessible approach to interiors. Along with creating award-winning interiors for private clients, his thirty-year-and-counting career has included innumerable television shows and brand collaborations. Consistently named to the AD100 and Elle Décor A-List, Nate lives in New York with his husband Jeremiah Brent and their children Poppy and Oskar.

For the first time ever, a direct line is drawn between Shabazz’s groundbreaking early work (the styling and fashion of the late 1970s through the early 1990s) through his recent editorial work for Vogue, The New York Times, DAZED, The New Yorker, W Magazine, Cultured Magazine, Brooklyn Magazine, The Art Newspaper, and many more.

Jamel Shabazz is best known for his iconic photographs of New York City during the 1980s. A documentary, fashion, and street photographer, he has authored 12 monographs and contributed to over three dozen other photography-related books. His photographs have been exhibited worldwide and his work is housed within the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Studio Museum in Harlem, Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Fashion Institute of Technology, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Getty Museum, The Dean Collection and the National Portrait Museum, among others. Over the years, Shabazz has instructed young students at the Studio Museum in Harlem’s “Expanding the Walls” project, The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture “Teen Curator’s” program, and the Bronx Museum’s “Teen Council.” He is the 2023 recipient of the Lucie Foundation Award for his achievement in documentary photography, and the 2022 awardee of the Gordon Parks Foundation/Steidl book prize. As an artist, Shabazz’s primary object is to contribute to the preservation of world history and culture. Memoirist, critic, translator, and frequent contributor of essays to The New Yorker and The New York Review of Books, where he is Editor-at-Large, Daniel Mendelsohn is the author of ten books, including the international bestsellers The Lost: A Search for Six of Six Million, winner of the National Jewish Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award, and An Odyssey: A Father, a Son, and an Epic, an NPR and Kirkus Best Book of the Year. His other honors include the Prix Médicis in France and the Premio Malaparte, Italy’s highest honor for foreign writers. In 2022, he was made a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Republic of France. He is currently the Charles Ranlett Flint Professor of Humanities at Bard College.

Ken Browar is a renowned fashion and editorial photographer. His passion for dance began when he lived in Paris and photographed dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet. Deborah Ory began her photography career while injured as a dancer, photographing rehearsals. She has worked as a photo editor at Condé Nast and Mirabella, and as an editorial photographer. Together, Browar and Ory are the creative team behind NYC Dance Project. Their work has been featured in newspapers and magazines worldwide including Harper’s Bazaar, Dior Magazine, New York Times, and many others. Their photographs have been exhibited at many galleries and museums worldwide and they have won two International Photography Awards for their books. They are the authors of two bestselling previous books, The Art of Movement and The Style of Movement: Fashion and Dance.

Kim Hastreiter is an artist, writer, editor, curator, and cultural anthropologist known for her pioneering work at the intersection of art, media, and culture. After earning her MFA at CalArts under mentor John Baldessari, she moved to New York, where she co-founded PAPER Magazine in 1984, which she ran until its sale in 2017. During the pandemic, she launched a free newspaper from Washington Square Park and began creating “Memezeens,” zines documenting radical meme art. She writes a weekly Substack newsletter exploring culture past, present, and future, and is working on her next book WORK, about thriving as a creative. Her latest book STUFF continues to evolve through various projects. She curates art shows, contributes to Apartamento Magazine, and has received honors including the CFDA Eugenia Shepard Award, Pratt Legend Award, and the 2025 Cooper Hewitt Design Visionary Award.

Larry Warsh has been active in the art world for over four decades as a publisher, collector, and artist-collaborator. An early supporter of Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, he helped organize Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks (Brooklyn Museum, 2015) and served as a curatorial consultant for Keith Haring | Jean-Michel Basquiat: Crossing Lines at the National Gallery of Victoria. Warsh has loaned works from his collection to major exhibitions worldwide. He founded Museums Magazine and has edited numerous books for Princeton University Press, including the popular -isms series on Basquiat, Haring, Futura, Warhol, and others, as well as titles by Ai Weiwei. He also served on the Getty Museum Photographs Council and was a founding member of the Basquiat Authentication Committee (1993–2012).

Jeffrey Banks is a celebrated fashion designer. His personal taste and way of putting clothes together have earned him a consistent spot on the “International Best Dressed” list. Banks is also an accomplished author, having coauthored the following titles: Tartan: Romancing the Plaid, American Fashion Menswear, Preppy: Cultivating Ivy Style, Perry Ellis: An American Original, Patricia Underwood: The Way You Wear Your Hat, and Norell: Master of American Style. This is his first memoir.

Esmé Shapiro (Don’t Eat Me! The Almost True Story of Belladonna) grew up in Los Angeles, California and Ontario, Canada. Some of her previous books include Alma and the Beast, Carol and the Pickle-Toad, My Self Your Self, Roy Is Not a Dog, and Ooko, which was nominated for a Governor General’s Literary Award in 2016. She also illustrated Yak and Dove by Kyo Maclear, Eliza: The Story of Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton by Margaret McNamara, and A Garden of Creatures by Sheila Heti. Esmé lives in the Hudson Valley with her husband, Daniel, and their two scruffy dogs.

Giselle Potter (Before She Was My Grandmother) is the award-winning illustrator of over thirty books for children, some written by herself and others by such authors as Toni Morrison, Mary Pope Osborne, Ursula Hegi, Matthea Harvey, and Gertrude Stein. She has also illustrated a column for the New York Times called “Ties.” She lives with her husband and two daughters in the Hudson Valley.
