"His reflections on film, fame, and what it means to leave a lasting impact show both the vulnerability of a man contemplating his legacy and the defiance of a critic who wants to set the terms of his exit." - Observer
Rex Reed is one of the most renowned film critics in American history. He is a longstanding member of the New York Film Critics Circle and has been reviewing movies for 62 years, 38 of which for the Observer, the entirety of the publication’s existence. He has also published nine books and acted in films starring Marlon Brando, Laurence Olivier, and Mae West.
In this program, Reed revisits some of the great cinematic songs of the past and remembers the people who wrote, produced, and sang these songs, honoring an art form that has virtually vanished from contemporary films and popular culture.
