Rest & Recharge: Mindful Walk and Breathwork for the Impact Sector
About this Event
Join us for a restorative mindful walk in Greenwich Park.
Experience the calming, relaxing energy and wisdom of nature, movement, and breath. Have a moment to reconnect with yourself, slow down and leave feeling more restored than when you arrived.
This is not a hike and it's not about covering distance. It's a slow, mostly silent walk with plenty of space to pause, notice, and settle. We'll move between simple practices including mindful walking, coming back to our breath, gentle movement, and using our senses to connect with what's around us in nature.
Greenwich Park gives us a lot to work with. There are beautiful views to let your eye wander over the horizon, ancient sweet chestnut tree and many generous oaks, and, of course, all the vocal birds and cheeky squirrels going about their morning. Even in this heat and dry spell there's so much life and greenery to resr your eyes for a welcome break from the four corners of our screens.
At the heart of the walk is a simple invitation: come as you are. Nature does not ask us to be polished, productive, or perfect. It offers a slower rhythm, one that can help us feel more present, more connected, and calmer.
Shaped with the impact community in mind
This walk is for people working in the impact sector, whatever change you're working towards. For most of us in this space, the work is so much more than just a job. It's purpose, it's meaning, and we do it with real passion and dedication. That's a strength, and it also makes it easy to overlook our own wellbeing when we're focused on the causes we care about. It's an especially tough moment to be doing this work with funding cuts, rights backlashes, and climate change, and we can only give as much as we have to give.
To help us stay resilient in the long game to make impactful change, this session aims to restore some of your energy a s balance, and shar some easy self-care practices with your hat can be easily integrated into your day beyond this event.
Afterwards
There's an open invite after the session for anyone who'd like to stay and connect for a bit to join us at the Pavillion Cafe. It's a lovely spot with a view, with toilets and picnic tables. It's completely optional and there's no need to buy anything.
Your guide
Kathi has been working in the impact sector for many years, across governments, frontline work, research, grantmaking, and now consulting. She spent the last year relentlessly exploring different practices for self-care, and sharing her best-of selection with family and friends, and now she's excited to share them with the wider impact community. She comes to this as a curious practitioner and life long learner, not as someone who has all the answers.
Practical info
Please note that this walk takes place on mostly natural and uneven ground in Greenwich Park. It is a slow walking practice, not an intense one, but you will likely be on your feet for most of the hour and we may walk on grass and around trees. We may sit down for some exercise, so if you'd prefer to not sit on the ground, bring along a small mat, bag or jacket to sit on.
Please wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes suitable for uneven ground. We'll be outdoors whatever the weather, so please dress for rain, cold, wind, or sun as needed, including sunscreen, a hat, or extra layers. Bring water.
