The Mura Struggle for Corporate Accountability and Environmental Justice in the Brazilian Amazon
About this Event

Please join the Cardozo Law Institute in Holocaust and Human Rights for a panel event featuring Brazilian Indigenous leaders, human rights lawyers, and activists fighting for Mura self determination rights to exist and continue on their lands. The Mura are resisting a mining project on their lands in the Amazon where risks of forced displacement and environmental destruction are high. This ongoing struggle raises complex legal issues at the intersection of Indigenous rights, environmental justice and corporate accountability amid increasing challenges--including climate change, global food insecurity, resource grabbing, rising authoritarianism, and conflict--globally.
