SAVE THE DATE!
Missed out on our earlier Community Snorkel Days? Don't worry, our next Experiencing Marine Reserves community beach snorkel day of the summer is on Saturday 14th March 2026. Registrations will open 1 March - link to come.
Join the EMR team down at Ngāmotu Beach for a snorkel, led by our experienced guides. No experience required! (Ages 7 yrs+ - yep adults can join too!). We have all the gear you need, just bring your togs and towel.
Location: We will be located near the public toilets near the middle of Ngāmotu Beach.
There are limited spaces available for the snorkel sessions so registration is essential (and please only register if you plan to come!)
How to participate:
1. Register on Eventfinda in advance - registrations open about 10 days prior
2. On the day, arrive 10 minutes early to complete registration at our registration desk and offer a koha on arrival
3. Get your wetsuit and snorkel gear fitted at the gear trailer
4. Wait for your allocated snorkel guide
5. Enjoy your guided snorkel!
6. Come back to shore with guide
7. Remove, clean and return snorkel gear
8. Fill out evaluation form
Big thanks to our supporters, sponsors and volunteers who make this day possible including: Toi Foundation, NPDC, Taranaki Foundation, Port Taranaki, Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust/Experiencing Marine Reserves and the Ngā Motu Marine Reserve Society.
In case of bad weather or poor water visibility, keep an eye on the facebook event for cancellation.
If you would like to volunteer as a snorkel guide or shore helper or would like more information, please contact EMR Taranaki Regional Coordinator: [email protected]
