RECODE DAY RETREAT
About this Event
Recode a full-day retreat dedicated to understanding and breaking the cycles of self-sabotage that quietly shape how you think, behave and move through life.
Self-sabotage isn’t a lack of discipline or motivation. It shows up as familiar patterns you return to under pressure. The habits you fall back on when something feels uncertain, uncomfortable or emotionally charged. Over time, these patterns can limit growth, drain energy and keep you operating from old strategies rather than choice.
This retreat brings together Conscious Connected Breathwork, Positive Intelligence (PQ) coaching, somatic movement and hands-on creative practices to explore these patterns at their root. The intention is not only to understand them, but to experience how they live in the body and learn how to interrupt them in real time.
This is deep, transformative work, designed for people who are genuinely ready for change. At the same time, it’s approached with curiosity, play and humanity. There is movement, creativity, conversation and lightness woven throughout the day. The work is insightful and serious, but never heavy for the sake of it.
What to Expect
This is a highly interactive and experiential day. You won’t be sitting and listening for hours. You’ll move between discussion, reflection, movement, breathwork and creative exploration, working with the same themes from different angles. The day is designed to help you understand self-sabotage cognitively, experience it somatically, and practise responding differently in real time. Insight is paired with embodiment so what you learn has somewhere to land.
🌀 PQ Coaching and the Ten Saboteurs
Using the Positive Intelligence framework, we explore the ten core saboteur patterns that drive self-sabotage. You’ll learn what these saboteurs are, how they form, and which ones impact you most. - These are the internal voices and behaviours that influence how you respond to stress, challenge, relationships and decision-making.
This work is practical and applied. You’ll learn how to catch yourself when you’re entering a cycle of self-sabotage, recognise common triggers, and practise interrupting the pattern before it takes over.
These sessions include exercises in awareness, anticipation, pattern interruption, self-command and integration, supporting the development of a new internal operating system for how you live your life.
🌈 Somatic and Embodied Exploration
We bring the work into the body through somatic movement and embodied practices. This allows you to experience self-sabotage not just as a thought pattern, but as something that lives in sensation, posture, tension and impulse. Working somatically helps shift awareness out of the head and into direct experience, making patterns easier to recognise and change.
These practices support nervous system awareness and help you understand how the body and mind interact, especially under pressure.
💜 Creative and Cathartic Practices
Creativity plays an important role in the day.
Through hands-on creative practices, you’ll explore self-sabotaging patterns in a way that’s revealing, cathartic and often lighter than you might expect. This may include drawing, writing and externalising patterns so they can be seen, named and worked with rather than endlessly analysed.
Joy and love live in the present moment, and through these practices, you’re invited to experience what it’s like to meet yourself there too.
No artistic skill is needed. This isn’t about making something perfect. It’s about expression, insight and movement.
⭐️ Conscious Connected Breathwork
Conscious Connected Breathwork is used to take the work deeper into the subconscious and into the body. Through a continuous, connected breathing pattern, you’ll be guided into altered states of awareness that allow access to subconscious beliefs, stored emotion and habitual patterns held in the body. As the breath deepens, attention is brought to physical sensation, helping you notice where patterns live somatically rather than just mentally.
Supported by sound, this practice works alongside principles of somatic therapy, using the body as an entry point for regulation and release. The breath helps soften habitual control, increase interoceptive awareness and support the nervous system in processing what has been held beneath conscious awareness.
Breathwork allows insight from earlier parts of the day to land physically as well as intellectually, supporting clarity, emotional integration and embodied understanding.
🥗 Nourishing Lunch
A nourishing, organic lunch is shared as part of the day, made locally with care. You’ll also have access to cold-pressed juices and nourishing food to support grounding, energy levels and integration as the work continues. This pause is intentional, giving the body time to settle, refuel and absorb what’s been explored before moving into the afternoon.
Change Beyond the Day
This retreat does not build habits in a single day.
Sustained change towards a more positive and resilient mind requires laying down new neural pathways through consistent daily practice. The design of this retreat supports that process by giving you the awareness, tools and embodied experience needed to recognise self-sabotage as it arises and respond differently over time.
💝 Connection and Community
Connection is an important part of this work.
We gather intentionally, creating a shared space for honesty, reflection and connection. Working alongside others allows you to see these patterns in a wider human context and feel supported as you explore them.
About your hosts
🌹Liza Al-Sady
Liza is the founder of We The Conscious® and a breathwork practitioner passionate about all things the breath. She specialises in Conscious Connected Breathwork, Neo-Emotional Release and somatic bodywork, and has been a qualified practitioner for over four years.
After spending 15 years working in the corporate world, Liza’s own experience of chronic stress, pressure and emotional overwhelm led her to question the way she was living and to seek deeper forms of support. About six years ago, she began exploring alternative wellness practices and therapies after realising it was time to face her trauma head-on and commit fully to healing. She came to understand that no amount of avoidance could alleviate the heavy emotional weight she carried. It was something she felt in her body every day.
Through a period of deep self-inquiry and personal growth, Liza discovered breathwork, an experience that profoundly changed the direction of her life and work.
Alongside her work, Liza regularly contributes as an expert voice on breathwork, somatic movement, stress, trauma and nervous system regulation. She has written for and contributed to titles including Stylist, Sheerlux, Marie Claire and Harper’s Bazaar, and regularly partners with brands such as Nobu Hotels, Joe Wicks and Alo Yoga.
Liza believes breathwork and somatic practice represent the next evolution of wellness, moving beyond surface-level fixes towards practices that genuinely support long-term regulation, resilience and meaningful change.
🌹 Sam Sylvester
Sam Sylvester is the founder of BOLD, a wellness brand for self-aware, emotionally intelligent people who are done letting their default patterns run the show. Built on an evidence-backed framework, BOLD helps people silence their inner critic, break self-sabotage cycles and apply grounding exercises to create mindful growth where it matters.
Rooted in Neuroscience and Positive Psychology, the "PQ Method" that Sam facilitates helps you identify subconscious thought patterns and beliefs that are impacting your life and gently guides you back to the calm, clear you so you can move forward with less friction.
Sam is fascinated by what makes us, us. His work focuses on uncovering and understanding the childhood coping mechanisms that follow us into adulthood. By challenging your observed patterns, you are able to re-write your behaviour so it aligns with the reality you want for yourself.
As well as Coaching, Sam hosts Sharing Circles to encourage social connection, emotional growth and personal development in groups. By normalising vulnerable conversations within the Circles, Sam hopes to create a ripple effect as members start to connect more openly with those in their day to day lives.
Sam holds space with warmth and humour to allow people to feel welcome, human and safe.
