A discussion of how public health campaigns and media representations reflect the realities of living with HIV.
About this Event

Join us for a discussion of how public health campaigns and media representations reflect the realities of living with HIV in a world where highly effective treatments have made the virus both manageable and untransmissible. If you want to learn from people at the forefront of activism and community engagement around challenging outdated stigma, then this is the event for you!

Dr Max Morris will share findings from their recent study with people living with HIV about how things have changed and what the future might hold, in conversation with Matthew Hodson, former Executive Director of aidsmap and Gay Men Fighting AIDS. Come along to the East Oxford Community Centre for an energising dialogue, followed by an opportunity to ask questions and share reflections.

This inclusive event will provide an opportunity to challenge the ongoing marginalisation of people living with HIV and meet with others over tea/coffee. Please note that the event will include discussions of homophobia, transphobia, and HIV/AIDS-phobia both past and present.

Content Warning: This event will include images of public information campaigns about HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 alongside discussions about discrimination and stigma towards LGBTQ+ people and people living with HIV, past and present.
