Join us for Roots & Resilience, an inspiring monthly gardening series in partnership with the Cooperative Extension Program at Florida A&M University (FAMU). Together, we’ll explore the transformative power of gardening while honoring the profound legacy of agricultural knowledge and stewardship within the Black community across the globe.

This family-friendly series is designed for learners of all ages to dig into the earth, discover sustainable practices, and connect with a vibrant history rooted in the resilience and ingenuity of Black farmers, gardeners, and agricultural innovators.

🌍 Representation in Green Spaces: Celebrate the contributions of Black agricultural pioneers and the power of diversity in sustainable practices.
🌾 Hands-on Gardening Activities: Learn skills for nurturing plants, building green spaces, and growing your own food.
📖 Global Histories of Agriculture: Explore how Black communities worldwide have shaped agricultural knowledge, from ancient techniques to modern innovations.
🌟 Garden Communities in West Palm Beach: Engage with local community gardens and connect with West Palm Beach’s efforts to foster sustainable, inclusive spaces.
🌱 All Ages Welcome: From curious kids to seasoned green thumbs, there’s something for everyone.

The FAMU Cooperative Extension Program is dedicated to empowering individuals and communities through education, innovation, and sustainable practices. With a mission to serve as a catalyst for positive change, the program offers resources and expertise in agriculture, natural resources, and environmental sustainability. By collaborating with communities across Florida, FAMU’s Extension Program supports initiatives that promote food security, sustainable living, and environmental stewardship.

This partnership between FAMU Cooperative Extension and Project Flourish brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to West Palm Beach, connecting historical traditions with modern gardening practices to inspire a thriving, resilient future.

Program Description:

A free monthly program that offers the community a diverse range of activities including cooking, gardening, dance, STEAM, writing, art and music, all designed to enrich their literacy learning experience. This program encourages children to explore their passions, facilitate ongoing self-discovery, while developing leadership skills and fostering a sense of community.

Rohi’s Readery is an award winning social justice driven children's bookstore and learning center dedicated to critical literacy that promotes inclusivity and diversity by honoring historically marginalized communities.

Rohi’s Liberation Station 501c3, a non-profit initiative by Rohi's Readery, honors historically marginalized communities through a multigenerational literacy learning approach.

Programming is FREE (paid for by Rohi's Liberation Station) unless otherwise stated on the event site. Donations are appreciated and will go back into Educational Programming and Services.
