Artist Bio
Ray Sun is an award-winning violinist currently pursuing her Master and Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music, under the Professor Itzhak Rashkovsky. She is the violinist of the Celadon Quartet and Turner Quartet.
With an active interest in exploring solo and chamber works, Ray has performed extensively globally. She has constantly expanded her horizons and experience by appearing in festivals and masterclasses with esteemed individuals such as Italy Cervo Music Festival, Aldeburgh Festival and Folkestone Music Festival. Recent performances have included St. Pancras Church, Cadogan Hall and Snape Maltings. Ray is most generously supported by Quaxitas.
She appeared in festivals and concert series across the world. In September 2025, she attended the Cervo International Music Academy in Italy, receiving guidance from Ingolf Turban and Erika Geldsetzer, and was invited to perform as a soloist in the festival’s closing concert, presenting Bach Double Violin Concerto and Szymanowski Violin Sonata. In 2023, she performed the Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto with the China Film Philharmonic Orchestra in Beijing. She was awarded the Absolute First Prize in the Sonata category at the 2025 UK International Music Competition.
As a passionate chamber musician, Ray participated in a masterclass with the Sacconi Quartet in February 2025. That same year, she was invited as Co-Principal Second Violin to lead the chamber orchestra at the Folkestone Music Festival. Her string quartet also performed a programme featuring works by Mendelssohn, Haydn, and Caroline Shaw at St Mary and St Eanswythes Church in Folkestone.
Ray has collaborated with esteemed conductors and artists, including Vasily Petrenko, Martyn Brabbins, Nicholas Collon, Rafael Payare, Lawrence Renes, and Douglas Boyd.
In addition to her musical career, she holds a Bachelor of Law degree. From 2026, Ray Sun will be supported by Talent Unlimited.
