This immersive, hands-on workshop invites you into the ancient and intimate art of chocolate making—approached not as candy, but as medicine, food of the heart, and living alchemy.
Participants will learn how to work with raw cacao to preserve its energetic and nutritional integrity, transforming whole ingredients into smooth, lustrous chocolate. We’ll explore the foundations of flavor, sweetness, texture, and intention, with guidance on keeping chocolate raw while still achieving depth and refinement.
The workshop includes an introduction to herbal allies traditionally associated with vitality, circulation, and sensuality. You’ll learn how and when to incorporate herbal aphrodisiacs and tonics into chocolate in ways that honor both taste and effect, with options to tailor your creations to your own preferences.
A key focus will be proper tempering—understanding temperature, timing, and feel—so your chocolate sets beautifully with a clean snap and glossy finish. From there, you’ll pour and shape your chocolate into truffles or bar molds, creating edible works of art infused with your own hands and intention.
This is a tactile, sensory experience: melting, stirring, tasting, adjusting, and refining in real time. Each participant will leave with handmade chocolates to take home and enjoy, along with practical skills that can be replicated in your own kitchen.
Led by Hugh T Alkemi, this workshop blends culinary craft, herbal wisdom, and a reverent relationship with cacao—inviting you to slow down, engage your senses, and remember chocolate as something sacred as well as delicious.
