QUEER YOGA: Slow Flow | Art House Pasadena
About this Event
QUEER SLOW FLOW YOGA
Ground yourself with a calming hatha yoga practice designed for the LGBTQ+ community
Every Sunday at Art House Pasadena, we create a slower-paced class that focuses on mindful movement, breath, and alignment. This is more than yoga—it’s a space where queer, trans, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ folks can practice in community, exactly as we are.
WHY QUEER YOGA?
Art House Pasadena serves as a housing and community space for LGBTQ+ people, and this practice honors that mission. While everyone is welcome, this class centers queer voices, bodies, and experiences. You don’t need to prove anything, perform anything, or be anything other than yourself.
Whether you’re gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, non-binary, questioning, or anywhere on the spectrum—you belong here. Yes even allies are welcome!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Class Structure (60 minutes):
∙ Warm-Up: Gentle stretches to awaken the body and connect to breath
∙ Sun Salutations: Flowing sequences coordinating breath with movement
∙ Balance & Grounding Work: Poses that build stability and presence
∙ Meditation: Quiet reflection and mindfulness practice
∙ Breathwork: Calming techniques to regulate your nervous system
∙ Community Connection: Time to connect with fellow practitioners
SETTING:
We practice outdoors on the grass, surrounded by trees and open sky. If it rains, we’ll move under protected cover—either way, you’ll be practicing in fresh air and community.
MUSIC:
Some sessions are accompanied by music, adding an extra layer of peace and presence to your practice.
ALL LEVELS WELCOME!
Never done yoga before? Perfect—this class is designed for you. Each pose includes variations so you can meet yourself exactly where you are. Experienced yogi? You’ll find depth and challenge here too. All bodies, all abilities, all gender expressions welcome.
Whether you’re working with physical limitations, coming back to movement after time away, or exploring yoga for the first time—we’ll support you through every breath.

ABOUT YOUR FACILITATOR
Hi, I’m James Santana, and I practice what I call Brain and Body Yoga—a style rooted in 5 years of training, combined with my Breathe for Change certification in mindfulness and social-emotional learning.
I believe in the deep connection between mind, heart, and body—they support and strengthen one another. My approach works with qi/ki energy (life force), meridian-based stretching, lower belly breathing, and guided meditation to help people find balance within themselves so they can show up more fully in their communities.
I’ve been facilitating at Art House Pasadena and launched OptimysticLiving to empower individuals and communities through coaching and holistic practices. This Queer Yoga offering is my way of creating sustainable wellness spaces specifically for LGBTQ+ folks—because we deserve to breathe, move, and heal together.
COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
This is a consent-based, body-positive, trans-affirming space. We:
∙ Use chosen names and pronouns
∙ Respect all bodies, identities, and expressions
∙ Ask before touching (no unsolicited physical adjustments)
∙ Honor that everyone’s practice looks different
∙ Keep what’s shared in community confidential
∙ Center queer joy, not just queer trauma
COST
This class is FREE to Housemates. And we can offer a scaled payment for those in need. Seriously. Just show up. Your support goes toward expanding our Queer Housing Initiatives in Southern California.
We believe wellness should be accessible to everyone in our community. If you’re moved to support the space or instructor, optional donations are welcome but never expected.
*We will share donation links and means for was to recognize your instructor
