About this Event

The Queer Birders Club is for queer birders of all abilities and experience levels. Whether you're a seasoned pro or this is your very first time birding, this is a safe space to be yourself, have fun, and get curious about birds with other nature-loving queer folks! Walks are always facilitated by experienced queer naturalist and birder Kate Brown, who has over a decade of experience running birding and nature connection programs for folks of all ages. Bring your coffee, a donut, and anything you need to stay comfortable for the duration of our time outside.

Location: We will be meeting at the Wiley Slough in Skagit County (21961 Wylie Rd, Mount Vernon, WA 98273), which is about a 40 minute drive from downtown Bellingham. The entirety of the trail is completely flat packed dirt/gravel, and there are bathroom facilities at the trailhead. This trail offers great views of open wetland with lots of snags, as well as field views perfect for raptor viewing. Bald Eagles, Northern Harriers, Kestrels, Herons and lots of winter ducks are common to spot here.

The Queer Birders Club typically meets from 10-11:30am on the last Sunday of every month (with some exceptions for availability and holidays)
