About this Event
Queer Art Night!
Join us in a dedicated drop-in space for our queer community to gather, create, and simply be. Facilitated by Kim Cota, an art therapy intern from the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute, this session offers a zero-judgment environment to explore creative prompts or work on your own self-directed projects.
Queer Art Night is a space for the queer community to connect through the act of making. It is a low-pressure environment designed to prioritize "process over product," where you can show up exactly as you are. Whether you're looking for a new creative spark or just a supportive place to sit and work.
The evening is designed to be flexible. A variety of materials and a gentle, accessible art-making prompt are provided to help get your hands moving. However, following the prompt is entirely optional; you are always encouraged to bring your own ongoing work-in-progress or use the studio supplies to follow your own creative lead.
While the focus is on your autonomy and community connection, these sessions are facilitated by Kim who will hold a supportive space, and offer prompts.

About the Instructor:
Kim (she/her) is an Art Therapy Intern currently studying at the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute. Operating from a deeply humanistic perspective, she believes that everyone holds the answers they need within themselves, and art serves as the metaphoric tapestry where those answers take form. Kim acts as a "threadkeeper" during her workshops, safely tracking the diverse strands of thought and emotion that participants bring forward. Requiring no artistic skill, her workshops are designed to help you unearth the wisdom that exists below the level of awareness and weave those insights into a clearer self-understanding.
