In Qigong, the heart is considered the vital organ that governs the entire body-mind system. It is said that the mind's home is in the heart and when it becomes overwhelmed, the mind leaves the body leaving us feeling scattered, unable to find healthy boundaries and feeling out of sync in our lives.
The medicine for the spirit of the heart is giving it space and time to come back home, like a little bird returning to its nest and to be gently nourished.
This calming and balancing practice for the heart incorporates slow intentional qigong movements, tapping, deep breathing, yin yoga and meditation to help settle our busy minds, move out stuck stress, reduce feelings of anxiety and overwhelm, and welcome a feeling ease and joy as we come home to the inner compass of our heart.
Heather Till, e-ryt 500 is a Certified Yoga Therapist, Gentle Somatic Yoga practitioner and Five Spirits Qi gong and yin yoga instructor. As a long-time practitioner of the movement and healing arts, Heather’s teaching is rooted in mindful, slow practices that gently unwind chronic tension and pain patterns, nourish the nervous system, reconnect us with our body’s natural rhythms and ability to experience health, resilience and well being.
