PPS's Festival of Architecture & Design: South Providence Waterfront

Join Monica Huertas, Executive Director of the People’s Port Authority, for a walking conversation about the past, present, and future of the South Providence waterfront. We will meet in Collier Point Park and walk from there to Public Street and back, covering one mile. The People’s Port Authority is an environmental justice advocacy organization that works to educate people about the harms of industrial development along the waterfront to the neighborhoods nearby and to advocate for policies and plans that directly address these harms to build a healthier and more just future.
Please note that Allens Avenue has extremely narrow, unkept sidewalks and with traffic whizzing by, this route is challenging and will not be a good fit for all walkers. Given the conditions, there is a minimum age of 13 for this tour. Please wear close-toed comfortable shoes and be prepared to encounter glass and other detritus on the sidewalks. The sidewalks are only a few feet wide at times and will require the group to walk single file.
Tickets: Donation Event. Suggested donation of $15 per person supports the work of the People’s Port Authority (note that a minimum of $1 is required to complete registration for this event – this is a $1 fee that goes to Eventbrite, not PPS).
Parking: Collier Point Park has a parking lot. Collier Point is located at the end of Henderson Street along the river, accessed from Allens Avenue under the I-195 overpass. There is a very small green sign for Collier Point Park at the turnoff.
