Postcards From Here with Dee Jackson

How do we talk about our own queer journeys? What images and words leave a mark to say we are here.
In this workshop we can explore others images and words. Then we’ll have the opportunity to make our own postcards to past or future selves, to allies and inspirations, real or fictional, past, present or future.
Materials including a range of art media will be provided. What you do with your cards is up to you. There will be an opportunity to share stories and pictures if you like, but privacy will be respected.
This workshop will be led by Dee Jackson (she, her), a Barnstaple based artist who is now (reluctantly?) realising that she qualifies in age and duration as a Queer Elder! Part of Dee’s practice involves the use of postcards to connect to key inspirations in her life, but this will be a first for her too, to use that medium specifically to connect to her own queer journey.
Expressions of Queerness are a series of FREE art workshops for 16-24-year-old LGBTQIA+ people (and allies!) at Studio KIND.
All attendees will be provided with a £5 travel bursary for each activity attended.

Studio Kind is situated at the far end of and within Barnstaple Pannier Market. During out of hours, the market can be accessed by a small wooden door from Butchers Row.
Nearest Car parks are the Cattle Market car park or Barnstaple Central. There is disabled parking on Boutport Street.
The bus station is a 5-minute walk away and the train station a 15-minute walk or bus journey of 10 minutes.
Our venue is wheelchair friendly and accessible to all. There are accessible toilets right next door.
