Introduction to Drawing with Julia Hall
About this Event
Did you used to draw but then life got in the way? Have you not drawn since school but want to have another go? Are you searching for new ways to improve hand-eye coordination and keep your brain healthy? This two-hour ‘Introduction to Drawing’ class will teach basic techniques of proportion, form, tone and perspective, giving you the confidence to begin a new skill or improve a rusty one. Using a still-life set up, artist Julia Hall will help you to record what you see using pencil and charcoal through a series of fun exercises in a relaxed setting. The purpose is not to return home with a ‘ready-to-frame’ drawing, but to give you skills you can use going forward for sketching, life drawing or further classes. All materials (plus tea and biscuits!) will be provided, and no prior experience is necessary.
Julia Hall is an artist based in North Devon. After studying Modern History at the University of Oxford and living in Tokyo, Sydney, Hong Kong, London, and New York, she returned to the South West in 2014. Following training at the New York Academy of Art and the Grand Central Academy, Hall developed a practice spanning portraiture and landscape, drawing inspiration from the people, coastline, and changing weather of North Devon.
