Poppies and Daffodils: Antizionist Jewish Solidarity and its Absence
The ongoing war waged against the Palestinian people has ignited solidarity movements worldwide, including in Lithuania. Placing the poppy—a symbol of Palestinian resistance and indignity—side by side the daffodil—a symbol of Jewish rebellion and resilience—the discussion will focus on Jewish practices of solidarity with Palestinians, while also opening reflection on their absence, erasure, and repression.
Noah Brehmer, a theorist and organizer living in Vilnius and Mila Burchart, a curator and translator of Baltic, Slavic and Jewish languages, will discuss these issues from a Jewish antizionist perspective. The discussion will be facilitated by Kamal Ahamada, an educator and independent lecturer, whose research focuses on decolonial and critical race theories.
