Pond Dipping session Grab a net and come and do some supervised pond dipping at Rowntree Park as part of the City Nature Challenge.
We’ll be exploring one of the park’s ponds/lakes to discover the tiny creatures living just below the waterline. Think wriggly, wiggly, darting, shimmering pond life. There is always something to find, even if we cannot promise exactly what will turn up.
Together we’ll identify and record our discoveries on the iNaturalist app, contributing to the global City Nature Challenge and helping real scientists understand urban wildlife better.
Lasts around 1 hour
All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied
We will be working close to the water’s edge so parents and carers are responsible for children at all times
The City Nature Challenge is a worldwide four day wildlife bioblitz at the end of April, where cities collaborate in a friendly competition to record as much biodiversity as possible. Every photo and every sighting counts.
Book places (no ticket needed for accompanying parent/carers)
