Pokemon: Booster Draft
Drafting Process
Standard drafts typically involve 4 to 8 players.
Opening Packs: Each player receives a set number of booster packs (usually 4 to 6 packs).
Picking & Passing:
Every player opens their first pack simultaneously, selects one card, and places it face-down in their personal pile.
The remaining cards are passed to the player on the left.
Players select another card from the pack they just received and pass again. This continues until the pack is empty.
Alternating Direction: For the second pack, players pass to the right. For the third, they pass left again, continuing this alternating pattern until all packs are drafted.
Deck Building Rules
After the draft, players have roughly 20–30 minutes to construct their decks.
Deck Size: Decks must be exactly 40 cards (unlike the standard 60).
Energy: Tournament organizers or hosts typically provide an unlimited supply of Basic Energy cards to help finish decks.
No "4-Card" Limit: In most draft formats, you can play as many copies of a card as you drafted (e.g., if you draft 5 Pikachus, you can play all 5)
Gameplay Differences
Prize Cards: Games are played with 4 Prize cards instead of 6 to account for the smaller deck size.
Evolution Lines: any pokemon can evolve from any base form, so long as the type is the same.
Due to reasonable product constraints, should there not be sealed packs available, we encourage players to try doing a draft using our economic 10ct shop repacks. We recommend 7 packs (giving each player a stock of 70 cards they would be drafting out of)
Saturdays we also host Flesh & Blood events in the shop. Should there be bleedover of players, the shop will make reasonable accommodations as much as possible. Current seating capacity is 26.
