Lorcana Constructed: Mono-Color
As with other TCGs hosted by and supported by the shop, Lorcana will have a cumulative point structure for "seasonal" league play. Players earn points over a set period of time, with top point earners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) winning store credit payouts, based on end of season standings. Typically seasons run from the release of one set the release of another.
Constructed formats such as this one allow for participation points. No placement points are given.
Any time there is a fifth Friday within a month, it triggers a hybrid constucted/pack rush store championship event.
In Disney Lorcana, the mono-color format refers to a deck construction style where a deck is built using cards from only one of the six ink colors, rather than the standard limit of up to two colors.
Key Features of Mono-Color Decks:
Legal within Standard Rules: While most competitive decks use two colors for synergy, standard rules allow for mono-colored decks since they simply contain "zero cards from a second color".
Self-Imposed Challenge: Many players use this as a "challenge format" at local game stores or in themed leagues to test their deck-building skills within the limitations of a single color's card pool.
Specific Payoffs:
Recent card sets have introduced "Champions" that provide powerful benefits specifically for running a high concentration of one color, making mono-color strategies more viable than they were at launch.
Strategic Drawback:
Historically, mono-color decks have been considered "sub-optimal" because you lose out on the strengths of a second color (e.g., adding Ruby for board wipes or Amethyst for card draw) without any inherent mechanical advantage from the game engine.
