Not surfers… but Suffragettes against sewage.
Set against the backdrop of Edwardian England, Poisoned Beds tells the powerful and surprisingly witty story of one woman’s fight for freedom, justice and clean waters.
It’s 2018, and Elizabeth Wells is preparing a concert to celebrate women’s suffrage and the end of the Great War. But as she looks back, she must confront a deeply personal past, intertwined with the fight for women’s rights and the shocking pollution of Emsworth’s once-famous oyster beds.
Blending humour with heartbreak, this beautifully crafted one-act play is full of sharp dialogue, unexpected twists and original music performed live on stage.
Performed by the brilliant Paula Tinker, with music by much-loved composer John Gleadall, this is storytelling at its most compelling.
✨ A moving, thought-provoking and surprisingly funny evening of theatre
