Poetry Comics Workshop
About this Event
Date: July 21, 2026
Time: 4 - 6 p.m.
Location: Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture
Who or what shapes your sense of the places you care about? What memories define them? What histories constrain them? What images hold them in place?
Join Artist in Residence, Mita Mahato, for a creative workshop that explores and complicates these questions through the hybrid, wily form of poetry comics. Participants experiment with the interplay of word and image to examine and reimagine their relationships to place.
No drawing or poetry experience required.
For ages 16 and older. Those under age 16 may attend accompanied by an adult.
About the Instructor:
(She/Her) – Seattle, WA
Mita Mahato is an artist and poet whose work joins fragments of used and discarded materials in poetic experiments that dramatize ecosystemic survival against capitalism. Her books are Arctic Play (The 3rd Thing 2024) and In Between (Pleiades 2017) and her poetry comics can be found in PRISM, Ecotone, Iterant, Shenandoah, and other publications.
