Join the Berks History Center on Saturday, July 25th from 9:00AM to 2:00PM for our Pioneer Basket Workshop, a hands-on crafting experience inspired by early American tradition.Under the guidance of BHC Education Curator Vicky Heffner, participants will weave a beautiful, one-of-a-kind pioneer-style basket featuring a distinctive and uniquely designed top. This special detail sets the basket apart, making it both a functional piece and a striking example of traditional craftsmanship.
Basket weaving has long been an essential skill in early American households, with handmade baskets used for gathering, storing, and transporting goods. In this workshop, you’ll explore the historical roots of this practical art form while learning step-by-step weaving techniques. Vicky will provide instruction suitable for beginners while also offering helpful tips for those with prior weaving experience.
All materials will be provided, and participants will leave with a completed basket ready to use or display in their home. This immersive workshop offers a relaxing and rewarding opportunity to connect with the craftsmanship of the past while creating something beautiful with your own hands.
Cost:
$50 for BHC Members
