Pick Up & Paddle
About this Event
Think flash mob—but for leaving the beach better than we found it.
Grove Community Incubator, VALOR Skincare, and our special guest B Local Georgia invite you to Pick Up & Paddle, a small beach-cleanup pop-up at Bryant Park.
We’ll spend approximately 30–45 minutes collecting litter from the beach and surrounding park. Afterward, Susie from VALOR will lead an optional paddle on Grand Traverse Bay.
Come for the cleanup, the paddle, or both. The paddle is entirely optional, and you do not need to get on the water to participate.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We’ll begin with a brief welcome and safety overview before heading out with buckets to collect litter. We’ll regroup after the cleanup to consolidate the trash and take a quick group photo. Those who have registered for the paddle can then prepare to get on the water.
This is intentionally a small, informal pop-up. We don’t need a crowd—just a handful of people willing to give Bryant Park a little time and care.
WHAT TO BRING FOR THE CLEANUP
We’ll provide buckets, disposable gloves, and basic cleanup supplies. Please bring:
• Work gloves, if you have them
• Drink'n water
• Weather-appropriate protection
ABOUT THE OPTIONAL PADDLE
The paddle is a bring-your-own-watercraft activity. Each paddler is responsible for bringing, transporting, inspecting, and safely operating their own paddleboard, kayak, canoe, or other suitable watercraft.
Paddlers must also bring:
• Their own paddle
• A leash, if appropriate for their watercraft
• A properly fitted, U.S. Coast Guard-approved wearable personal flotation device
PFDs must be worn while on the water. No watercraft, paddles, PFDs, instruction, lifeguard services, or water-rescue support will be provided by the event hosts.
The paddle is an informal recreational outing—not a guided tour or lesson—and is dependent upon safe weather and water conditions. It may be canceled even if the beach cleanup proceeds.
