We are planning two Park-Keeping sessions for late August. We hope you'll be able to join us and that for now you're finding ways to keep cool!
Thursday August 20 9:30 - 11:00.
Removing invasive plants and preparing for re-seeding and planting in the ravine.
Meet at the ravine behind York Pond.
Please bring your own water and insect repellent, and wear closed-toed shoes. We can provide work gloves, or you can bring your own.
Tools to bring (or we can supply them): pointed shovel, spade, hand clipper, lopper
Sunday August 30, 9:30 - 11:00.
Preparing soil for re-seeding, and removing invasive plants. We will rake and prepare soil in a very recently disturbed area near the concrete energy dissipator near York Pond, and remove invasive plants from the wetland meadow running from the dissipator to River Drive.
Update 8/19: Meet along the access road next to York Pond.
Tools to bring: iron rake, lawn rake, hand pruners, loppers.
Please bring your own water and insect repellent, and wear closed-toed shoes. We can provide work gloves, or you can bring your own.
Tools to bring: small pointed shovel/spade; we will provide pruning saws and other tools.
---------------------------------------------
We work spring through fall in Blackstone Park Woods and on Blackstone Boulevard. Our volunteers fix trails, care for trees and shrubs and plant new ones, protect steep slopes from damaging storms, and more. Join us once or often as we spend time outdoors, get some exercise, and share the joy of contributing to these special places.
We already have park-keeping dates planned through next fall, with more to come.
