Painterly Watercolour Monotype Workshop

Join visiting Hawke's Bay artist and printmaker Lisa Feyen at Space Studio & Gallery for a fun, hands-on workshop inspired by her exhibition 'Silent Messengers'.
Discover the magic of painterly watercolour monotype in this relaxed three-hour session, with plenty of time to play, experiment, and create your own unique prints. While most printmakers work with ink, this expressive technique uses watercolour to produce beautifully soft, atmospheric results that may surprise you.
Create stunning standalone artworks or colourful backgrounds to print or paint over later.
Suitable for all experience levels. Beginners are warmly welcome.
We will learn:
• How to design/prepare an image
• How to prepare your plates
• How to mix and apply your paint
• How to prepare your paper
• How to print your plates using an etching press
• How to layer colour when printing
What’s included:
• Polycarbonate plates
• Printmaking paper
• A small supply of watercolour paints to share
• Use of tools/equipment/other materials
• Morning tea snack!
• An instruction sheet to take away
You’re encouraged bring:
• A set of watercolour paints (in tubes)
• Your favourite brushes (if you have them)
• An apron or wear old clothes
• Some nitrile gloves (if you don’t like getting messy)
• Water bottle
Time: 9.30am – 12.30pm
Date: Saturday 29 August
Where: Space Studio & Gallery, 18 Saint Hill St, Whanganui.
Cost: $60 per person
Limited numbers, early booking is recommended!

About the tutor:
Lisa Feyen is a printmaker and experienced tutor based at Ink Moth Print Studio in Napier. Passionate about sharing the creative possibilities of printmaking, she regularly teaches workshops in linocut, screen printing, drypoint, and block printing. Her own practice embraces a wide range of printmaking techniques, combining multiple layers, textures, and processes to create richly detailed works.
Lisa has exhibited throughout New Zealand, been selected for numerous national awards and exhibitions, and her work is held in private collections both in New Zealand and overseas.
