Outreach Jubilee Village - Carol Stream (LV: TBD)

Volunteer numbers for this project are based on adults and children ages 11 and older. Younger children are encouraged to attend with their parents but registration is NOT needed for any child 10 and under.

What sort of work will I be doing?

LANDSCAPING: W**d, clean up and place 43 CY of hardwood mulch in beds around the buildings and campus. Move compost pile. Prepare and plant new landscaping in 48’ garden bed in front of JV 2.

SKILLED LANDSCAPER/LANDSCAPE DESIGNER: Oversee the planting of the new garden bed in front of JV2.

SKILLED CARPENTRY/PICNIC TABLE REPAIR: Rehabilitate three 6-foot-long picnic tables. Replace 8 boards, power sand, and stain the tables. *Power sanding required!

CLEANING: Carry furniture and other heavy items upstairs and put in dumpster. Heavy lifting is required.

VOLUNTEERS SHOULD BRING (If you are able):

• WATER to drink
• Gardening Gloves
• Wheelbarrows (8 needed)
• Rakes (10+)
• Shovels / Pitchforks (8)
• Trowels
• Shears
• carpentry tools for replacing picnic bench boards
• power sanders for sanding picnic benches
• tools for disassembling furniture for moving
• · OPTIONAL: Hat, Sunscreen, and Bug Spray

IMPORTANT: Please be sure those doing landscape clean off or change shoes before entering the building.

El número de voluntarios para este proyecto se basa en adultos y niños mayores de 11 años. Se anima a los niños más pequeños a que asistan con sus padres, pero el registro NO ES NECESARIO para cualquier niño menores de 10 años.

JARDINERÍA: Desmalezar, limpiar y colocar 43 yardas cúbicas de mantillo de madera dura en las áreas de plantación alrededor de los edificios y el campus. Mover el montón de abono orgánico. Preparar el área y plantar nuevas plantas en el área ajardinada de 48 pies frente a JV 2.

JARDINERO CON EXPERIENCIA: Supervisar la plantación del nuevo jardín frente a JV 2.

CARPINTERÍA/REPARACIÓN DE MESAS DE PICNIC: Rehabilitar tres mesas de picnic de 6 pies de largo. Reemplazar 8 tablones, lijar a máquina y barnizar las mesas. *¡Se requiere lijado a máquina!

LIMPIAR Y MOVER AL CONTENEDOR: Llevar muebles y otros objetos pesados al piso superior y colocar en el contenedor. Se requiere levantamiento de peso.
