Hannah Jones: Instructions for Uncertainty

“Instructions for uncertainty” invites viewers into the quiet interstices of human consciousness. Those fleeting instants where a memory surfaces, a feeling stirs, and before the next thought takes shape. Across layered acrylic canvases, hand-felted abstractions each work captures a single, almost imperceptible moment, emerging as a journey through the liminal interstices of life charting the delicate interplay of joy and melancholy each created to its own sound track
Hannah Jones (born in Swansea, Wales) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, textiles, sculpture. After seven transformative years abroad undertaken both through residencies in Mexico, New York and Portugal and living in Berlin, she has returned to the UK.
Working across acrylics and inks on canvas and paper, hand-dyed and woven textiles, three-dimensional forms, Jones’s work has been exhibited internationally in galleries and alternative spaces alike. Whether on the flat plane of a canvas, the soft surface of fabric, the solid mass of a sculpture, she builds rhythmic layers that echo the emotional and associative power of music, memory and moments.
Some layers remain vividly visible, others lie just beneath the surface; together they inform each piece’s final composition, inviting viewers to discover new depths of meaning. Driven by an insatiable curiosity, Jones embraces each medium as an opportunity to explore texture, colour and form.

Ar draws cynfasau acrylig haenog, haniaethau wedi’u ffeltio â llaw, mae pob gwaith yn dal un foment, bron yn anweledig, gan ddod i’r amlwg fel taith trwy lleoedd trothwyol bywyd gan siartio’r rhyngweithio cain rhwng llawenydd a melancoli, pob un wedi’i greu i’w drac sain ei hun.
Mae Hannah Jones (ganwyd yn Abertawe, Cymru) yn artist amlddisgyblaethol y mae ei hymarfer yn cwmpasu peintio, tecstilau, cerflunio. Ar ôl saith mlynedd drawsnewidiol dramor a gyflawnwyd trwy breswylfeydd ym Mecsico, Efrog Newydd a Phortiwgal a byw ym Merlin, mae hi wedi dychwelyd i’r DU.
Gan weithio ar draws acryligau ac inciau ar gynfas a phapur, tecstilau wedi’u lliwio a’u gwehyddu â llaw, ffurfiau tri dimensiwn, mae gwaith Jones wedi’i arddangos yn rhyngwladol mewn orielau a mannau amgen. Boed ar gynfas wastad, arwyneb meddal ffabrig, màs soled cerflun, mae hi'n adeiladu haenau rhythmig sy'n adleisio pŵer emosiynol a chysylltiol cerddoriaeth, atgofion a momentau.
Mae rhai haenau'n parhau i fod yn weladwy'n glir, mae eraill yn gorwedd mymryn o dan yr wyneb; gyda'i gilydd maent yn llywio cyfansoddiad terfynol pob darn, gan wahodd gwylwyr i ddarganfod dyfnderoedd newydd o ystyr. Wedi'i ysgogi gan chwilfrydedd anniwall, mae Jones yn cofleidio pob cyfrwng fel cyfle i archwilio gwead, lliw a ffurf.
