Order Now and Personalize: Book Release and Artist Talk

Order Now and Personalize is a curatorial project that ran at Brew House exhibition openings from January 2025-February 2026. Curated by Centa Schumacher, each opening featured a photograph from a Pittsburgh photographer printed on a Giant Eagle sheet cake. Each cake was photographed as it was eaten in order to document its fleeting existence and see how it changed as it was consumed.

Now, Centa, Brew House, and Almost Perfect Press are partnering on a photo book featuring some of the best images of each cake and Centa’s collected writing about on the photographs. There will be a book launch on September 3rd at 7:00 pm and obviously there will be cake! We’ve also invited Laurie Trok and Indigo Baloch, two other artists who work with cake as a medium, for a panel discussion on what it means to use food in creative expression. They will each be baking something special for the occasion.*
