About this Event

Every Wednesday from 2-7pm, Louise Silk will be in the gallery to meet with visitors and share information about the exhibition and her practice. She will also be giving away patchwork pieces from her work "Witness."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dayenu: It Would Have Been Enough, is a solo exhibition by Pittsburgh fiber-artist Louise Silk. Dayenu is a career capstone exhibition featuring an all-new body of work being shown together for the first time. The exhibition features hand-sewn works, including art quilts, scrap quilts, flags, kaftans, portraits, and pillows, all made from repurposed fabrics. By working with both her own scraps and found textiles, Silk “brings together separate events and recollections that all contribute to a meaningful visual expression of my life.”

Louise Silk has been creating art quilts for over 50 years. She has exhibited throughout the US and has had seven solo exhibitions, including Louise Silk: A Patchwork Life, a career retrospective at the Heinz History Center in 2024. Silk lives and works in the South Side, and was recently included in our exhibition, Art of Pittsburgh’s South Side.

Dayenu: It Would Have Been Enough will be on view from July 16 to September 5, 2026. The exhibition will have expanded regular gallery hours: Wednesdays from 2-7, Thursdays from 2-7 pm, and Fridays and Saturdays from 11-4 pm. The gallery will also be open by appointment on Mondays and Tuesdays.
