Join us at Atithi Studios for the opening reception of INTERSCAPES, a solo exhibition by Chilean multidisciplinary artist Tomás Ives.
Through painting, muralism, illustration, and printmaking, Ives creates vibrant visual worlds where Latin American popular culture, surrealism, folklore, and collective memory intersect. His work invites viewers into dreamlike landscapes populated by symbolic figures, layered narratives, and rich color palettes that balance beauty, humor, tension, and social commentary.
Drawing inspiration from migration, identity, resistance, spirituality, music, and public life, INTERSCAPES explores the emotional and cultural landscapes that emerge from societies shaped by transformation and resilience. Saturated colors, graphic forms, and surreal imagery create paintings that feel both playful and unsettling, opening space for reflection on the complexities of contemporary life.
Born in Santiago, Chile, Ives works across painting, murals, illustration, printmaking, and community-based art practices. His artistic language has been shaped by Latin American mural traditions, political memory, public space, and collaborative work with migrant communities. His work has been exhibited internationally, and in 2015 he was recognized by the American Illustration–American Photography Awards as one of the year's most notable illustrators.
